U.S. scheduled passenger Airlines employed
386,912 workers in November, 1.5 percent more than in November 2013, DOT
reported. November was the 12th consecutive month that full-time employment for
U.S.
scheduled passenger Airlines was higher than the same month in the
previous year. The five network Airlines that collectively employ two-thirds of
the scheduled passenger employees reported 0.4 percent more full-time employees
(FTEs) in November 2014. Alaska Airlines, Delta, American and US Airways
increased FTEs from November 2013 while United reduced FTEs.
The six low-cost carriers -- Allegiant,
Spirit, Virgin America, JetBlue, Frontier and Southwest -- all reported
increases in full-time employees.
Among the 13 regional carriers, eight
carriers reported
increased employment levels during November 2014: PSA, Mesa,
Republic, Envoy, Compass, Horizon Air, SkyWest and Shuttle America.
